Starting Foundation Stage in September 2020

Welcome to Foundation Stage

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your child to The Stoke Poges School in September.  We are pleased to attach a copy of our Parent Handbook which we hope will answer many  of the questions you may have.

As we have not been able to welcome you and your child into school to meet the Foundation Stage team before September, we have put together a range of resources that will help your child to feel confident and happy to start their primary school journey.

Please watch the welcome video below and view the Powerpoint attached from our Head and Deputy Head Teacher.

School Services

Healthcare Plans & Administering Medication Forms

It is important that we are kept regularly up to date with your child's healthcare needs. If your child has a health condition please tell us by completing the Individual Healthcare Plan attached below and emailing it to by Monday 31st August.

If you child requires medication whilst in school, please also complete the Parental Agreement for Setting to Administer Medicine Form and email it, along with the Individual Healthcare Plan by Monday 31st August.

Please hand your child's medication (in a sealed, named bag) to their class teacher on the first day at school in September (in normal circumstances medicine must only come in via the School Office). The school can only accept medication in its original packaging indicating the patient name and dosage that has been prescribed by a Dr and when both of the above forms have been received.

School Uniform

All school uniform, excluding ties, swimming hats and the school jacket, can be purchased online from Different Class Schoolwear.

We will primarily communicate with you via email using the email addresses you have provided on your child’s application form.  It is important to check email daily to ensure you don’t miss any important messages from us concerning your child.  You should be able to find answers to any questions you may have on the school website but if there is anything else you need please email us at or telephone us on 01753 64 3319.  There is also lots of useful information in the Parent Handbook that was emailed to you previously.

School Gateway App

We use the School Gateway App which is a key parental engagement tool.  We use the App to send you short reminder messages directly to your mobile device.  You will be able to use the App to report your child’s absence, view your child’s attendance statistics, link to all school services and view your child’s report.  You can also tell us about any changes to your contact details via the App.

Please download and register for the App here: School Gateway App Registration

School Meals

The School caterer is Dolce and you will order your child’s meal on line from their software provider SchoolGrid, please see the attached leaflet for more information.  All Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 children are currently entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal.  You can provide your child with a packed lunch if you prefer.   In September you will receive an activation email from SchoolGrid containing your login details, please look out for this email as it may go into your junk mail.

*due to Covid-19 we are currently running a reduced lunch service, at the moment the arrangements for September are uncertain and we will advise you nearer the time.  It is likely that you will need to provide your child with a packed for the first 2 weeks.

School Milk

We will provide your details to Cool Milk (as long as you have given your consent) and your child will receive a carton of milk at break time.  This will stop on their 5th birthday unless you contact us to advise that you wish to pay for this to continue.

All parents are required to have a ParentPay account so they can pay for any Educational Visits that their child is invited to attend.  Please look out for an activation email from ParentPay with your login details in September.

We use a fantastic, easy-to-use, secure, online learning journal called Tapestry to celebrate your child’s learning and development in Foundation Stage.  Your child may already have a nursery Tapestry account that will transfer and continue.  Please see the attached document for full details on how to download your child's learning journal.

Pupil Premium

We have attached an application for Pupil Premium form.  Please complete and return this form to us if you think you may have entitlement.  The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

Stikins Name Labels

Please remember to label all items of your child's uniform with their name. We recommend Stikins name labels, which can be easily stuck into clothes and shoes and onto bags, lunch boxes, drink bottles and pencil cases.

The school will receive a small commission from your purchase, when you enter our school fundraising number 22413.
